After moving to the South of Adelaide in 1990 from a small farm in the SA Mid North, I attended drawing and life study classes at Noarlunga Tafe College. In 1991 I travelled to Bali for a painting workshop holiday which led to taking part in my first group exhibition. Since then I have been painting in acrylics, oils and pastels with wildlife and other natural history subjects as my main focus but also some still life, figurative and portrait work as well. I have experimented with various printmaking tecniques such as lino-cut, cyanotype and solar plate. Over the years I have attended many workshops with established artists, belonged to a number of art groups and successfully taken part in many exhibitions.
In 1998 I moved to the South Mid Coast and much of my painting developed coastal themes. My paintings begin with my observations in the field and are usually brought to completion in the studio with the aid of drawings, notes, photographs and my memories. A few years ago I began to use clay and stone as a medium as well and more recently have been exploring mosaics using glass, ceramic and found objects.
I am currently an associate member of the Royal South Australian Society of Arts. I am a past founding member and Secretary of Off The Sate Gallery, a past member and Newsletter Editor of Pastel Artists of South Australia and a past member of Painters of the Flinders Ranges.
