My involvement in art commenced only in my late fifties. I undertook HSC art courses at (then) Para West Adult Campus, including two years of Life Drawing with Julia Mannix. That interest took me in turn to Arts North (Elizabeth Art Society), where I have been a member for some years now. I have undertaken various workshops and courses in various media both at Arts North and elsewhwere, but I tend, still, towards Charcoal and or Pastel.
I have gained the odd minor award or mention here and there for my work (and even sold a few), but it is only over the last two years that I have begun to exhibit work – specifically at the Rotary-organised exhibitions in Victor Harbor and Clare in South Australia. I managed one sale in Clare last year, .. but fame is yet to spoil me. (Fortunately, for me, the attraction of art comes from that innate urge ‘just’ to create something.)
I cannot overstate the 'life' benefits that an involvement in art brings with it. Disregarding odd frustrations, it is an endless source of joy. I am lucky.
