Hi, I am 52 years old and began painting about 12 months ago after meeting my new partner who is a full time artist (check out her art Sophie Downey in gallery 247 or Sophie Downey Artist on facebook). I have been involved in the building game most of my life, starting off being a First Class Stainless Steel Sheetmetal Worker and after that I managed an Art Gallery at Tea Tree Gully which was a family business and my Dads dream as he was a commercial artist but loved painting and drawing. During my time at the Gallery I started a Picture Framing business and began framing for lots of exhibitions and local residents who knew what I was up to. The recession finished the gallery due to people not buying paintings nor having them framed. I then worked for Hall Plumbing for a number of years until moving on to manufacturing and installing Balustrades to both domestic and commercial markets up until 2 years ago.
I now build and refurbish resturants to make a living in and around Adelaide for a very enterprising syndicate of professionals and in my spare time build easels from timber recycled from building sites. My Rolls Royce mainly stay at home Easels have built in wine glass and stubby holders with detachable tables either side and adjustable pallett holders. My other Easels are exhibition easels for exhibiting works of art if you are lacking wall space or would like to have your own exhibition outside. I intend to make these easels available for hire at a very inexpensive rate so struggling Artists can hold there own exhibitions without commission.
I have sold 4 pieces of art to date and have exhibited one which shows I have good friends. but I fully intend to keep painting and drawing with Charcoal from now on and to start exhibiting more regularly so people can watch my progress and hopefully note my improvements. I understand that I have a long way to go.
Cheers,
