ARTIST NOTES: This painting was donated to the Burnside Community Painting Group. I spoke there about my career change, from being a barrister specializing in criminal law, to an artist/musician. I wanted to thank the group for having me, and maybe sponsor an art prize in the future for people who take the risk that I did, to follow a dream. It might be the "Sophie Downey, Emerging Over 40" art prize, or even the "Brush with the Law", an art prize specifically for lawyers who find solace from the chaos of the court room, in painting. Even if it's painting the court room itself!
